Keep Your Perimeter Monitored During Power Cuts with our Perimeter Alarm Light System

alarm light system

The perimeter alarm light system is powered by a 2.0Amp Nemtek Power Pack with a 7Ah battery for backup during power outages and could help detect and deter intruders from attacking the fence line even when the power is out.

Our alarm light system can be installed onto most of Nemtek’s electric fencing brackets and posts. To illuminate the area and ensure uniform coverage, the lights are installed at 6m to 9m intervals along the electric fence line. When the electric fence energizer alarms, the perimeter alarm light system will illuminate the triggered zone for easy detection. The alarm light system can also be triggered manually using a remote control at any time. The lights are LED, consume turn on instantly. They also face downward, reducing light pollution.

Features:

  • A single power pack can power up to 20 sets of lights (40 in total)
  • Lights are installed at 6m to 9m intervals along the fence line with 200m coverage on a power pack
  • Lights are downward facing
  • Lights are LED so no warm-up time is required
  • Lights can be triggered in three ways:
  • Energizer alarm trigger
  • Remote on and off
  • Day/night switch
  • Wet/dry contacts are configurable on the power-supply trigger module
  • Low-voltage cabling is run along the fence line to provide power to the lights

Certificate of Compliance

The South African Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 requires that any new electric fence installed needs a Certificate of Compliance (COC). In order to issue an Electric Fence Certificate of Compliance, an installer needs to complete a registered EWSETA-approved course which will enable the installer to issue a COC. RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) is an assessment that takes your past and current experiences and learnings into account. The RPL assessment process offered by the Nemtek Training Academy will allow a candidate to prove competency through a portfolio of evidence (POE), and a practical assessment is performed in front of a certified EWSETA assessor.

Electric Fence Hardware Supplier

It’s Time To Upgrade Your Existing Electric Fence Hardware

Crime does not sleep. It also does not respect private property. We can however take steps to either make it more difficult or to discourage such invasions of property in the first place. There are many ways in which this can be done, but a common (and cost effective) method in South Africa is the use of an electric security fence. It adds an additional layer of security to your property, keeping unwanted guests out and helping you feel safer. This article will examine the use of this kind of hardware technology in protecting your property.

Adding another layer of security

electric fence hardwareThe electric fence is a simple, yet effective, piece of hardware that can enhance the physical security of most properties. In most cases, only a single barrier, like a brick wall, stands between the outside world and your property, making entry relatively easy. With an electric security fence and the right kind of hardware installed, this barrier effectiveness can be improved. Electrified fences are thus a great cost-effective solution for people who want to protect their property.

Like any barrier, electrified fencing works as a deterrent by discouraging people (and animals) from attempting to cross it or to break through, and thus serves as both a physical and a psychological barrier. It is a physical barrier in that it creates an obstacle with direct physical feedback (a non-lethal electric shock) and it serves as a psychological barrier in the sense that people and animals associate it with danger and thus become discouraged to attempt to circumvent it.

Get Your Electric Fence Hardware From Nemtek

electric fence hardware sCriminals find new ways to bypass electric fence hardware all the time, but we are also constantly learning how to counter the techniques they use. These techniques can range from basic mechanical adjustments like ensuring the wiring has enough tension and the energisers are functioning appropriately, to more advanced changes like adding our Dual Action Tension Sensors (DATS) to a new or existing fence. These sensors can be retrofitted onto most electric security fences to prevent intruders from pushing down on your fence or attempting to separate the wires. Nemtek can advise you on any adjustments that need to be made, so give us a call.

Energizers for Electric Fences

Energizers for Electric Fences

Everything you need to know about Energizers for Electric Fences

What is an energizer and how does it work?

An energizer for an electric fence (security or animal management) is used to convert battery or mains power into electrical current pulses which are sent down the fence. The energizer sends out pulses instead of a continuous current to eliminate the risk of dangerous shocks that could be received and allows the animal or person to step away/let go of the electric fence. Nemtek security energizers have the functionality to monitor the fence wires and can alert you, in the form of an alarm, if anything changes in the condition of the electric fence.

The fence circuit remains closed and the pulses flow through the fence until one of two events happen: there is an open circuit or a short circuit. An open circuit happens when a live wire is cut and the current is disrupted which sends the energizer into alarm. A short circuit can occur when either a person or animal touches a live wire and completes the circuit by the current flowing through them into the ground and earth spike, or when an earth and live wire touch when someone is trying to climb over the fence. This will also send the energizer into alarm. Without an energizer, an electric fence is just a couple of wires or a passive barrier.

Things to consider when selecting an energizer:

  1. Which industry are you addressing?

This will determine what type of energizer you will use. For example, a residential fence may require one zone of 150m whereas a high-security fence may require multiple smaller zones for patrolling.

  1. How many zones do you require?

This depends on the length of the fence and the zone lengths required.

  1. How the information is displayed.
  • On the energizer LED
  • On the energizer LCD
  • On a keypad
  • On a touchpad display, generally used with multi-zone systems
  • On a PC in a control room, large systems
  1. Joule rating of the energizer

The higher the joule rating, the higher the energy that an energizer can deliver into a load.
